Suzanne Funk

Suzanne Funk

Suzanne was born and raised in Grandview, Manitoba. Suzanne attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation Physiotherapy. She opened Portage Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in Portage la Prairie in May, 1995. With a maintained focus on the provision of quality care in a friendly, yet professional environment; the clinic has grown and prospered over the past 12 years. 

Since 1995, Suzanne’s role within the facility has progressed from direct patient care to clinical management & business administration. As Clinic Manager, Suzanne’s main responsibilities now lie in the areas of human resources, program planning, advertising and promotion, and fiscal management. Additionally, Suzanne is the acting Privacy Officer for the facility. 

Suzanne is actively involved in her profession having volunteered her services in the past as the PR Representative for the Westman Parklands District – Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA), treasurer of the Private Practice Physiotherapy Group of Manitoba, & Poly Clinic Site Coordinator (Southport Location) for the 1999 Pan Am Games. 

Suzanne is currently the acting secretary, website and newsletter coordinator for the National Private Practice Division of CPA. She is also a guest lecturer for the University of Saskatchewan Physiotherapy Department on the topics of Business Management and Clinical Administration. 

In addition to her involvement with Portage Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic, Suzanne also owns Emerald Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation in Emerald Park, Saskatchewan.

Suzanne currently resides in White City, Saskatchewan with her husband and two boys.


 
Darcy Reynolds

Darcy Reynolds
BMR PT, FCAMT (Orthopaedic Manual Therapist, Acupuncture Certified)

Darcy attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation Physiotherapy. Wanting to pursue a career in private practice, Darcy began working at Portage Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic in May, 1997. He has a keen interest orthopedics and is currently one of only a handful of physiotherapists in Manitoba to complete the Advanced Examination in Musculoskeletal Assessment and Treatment and has taken advanced courses in spinal manipulations in addition to the general physiotherapy treatment options. Darcy is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapists (CAMT), Canada’s member organization of the International Federation of Manipulative Therapists (IFOMT). Darcy has also achieved the qualifications to perform acupuncture and has been practicing in this area since 1999. He continues to broaden his knowledge base by participating in continuing educational opportunities in the areas of acupuncture, sports, and orthopaedic related courses. 

Additionally, Darcy’s enthusiasm for his profession and expertise have enabled him to instruct other physiotherapists at a post graduate level as an assistant instructor with the Canadian Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Division, as well as being an instructor for his own educational company, ReynWood Physiotherapy Consulting.

 
Craig Schaan

Craig Schaan

Craig attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation Physiotherapy and previously in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science. Craig has been with Portage Physiotherapy since March, 1998. He has maintained an interest in sports and orthopedics over the years and has continually upgraded his skills by taking various post graduate courses in these areas of practice. Craig has a particular interest in the area of foot and ankle biomechanics, sport related injuries and orthotics. 

Craig was raised in Portage la Prairie and returned to his roots in 2005 bringing his wife and family to reside in this beautiful town after commuting for the previous years from Winnipeg. Welcome home Craig!!!

 
Krista Schaan

Krista Schaan
BSc., BMR PT

Krista attended the University of Manitoba and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation Physiotherapy. Krista has been with Portage Physiotherapy since February, 2000. She enjoys private practice and the ongoing opportunity to use her assessment skills and creativity in designing individualized treatment programs for clients of all ages and conditions. In addition to providing general physiotherapy services, Krista also manages our Post-Mastectomy & Pre/Post Partum Programs. Her future plans for the next couple of years include efforts to further her knowledge in the area of Women’s Health to bring additional women’s services to Portage Physiotherapy in the area of incontinence/pelvic floor assessment and treatment. Krista resides in Portage la Prairie with her husband, Craig, and two boys.

 
Lana Spelliscy

Lana Spelliscy
KINESIOLOGIST (Exercise Assistant)
Bsc., Kinesiology

Lana joined the team at Portage Physiotherapy in 2005. Lana graduated in 2002, from the University of Saskatchewan, Faculty of Kinesiology. 

Her qualifications as a Kinesiologist allow her to assist the supervising physiotherapist by monitoring individuals during their prescribed reconditioning/fitness programs. 

When Lana is not busy as an Exercise Assistant in our facility, she helps out as a receptionist/Physiotherapy Aide. Her kinesiology training makes her especially suited to the physiotherapy aide duties and her knowledge base and warm personality are both incredible assets to the clinic.
